Who Are You Activating?

The worst thing I've heard over the years is: "HOLY SPIRIT activate!"

I believe it started with a statement by Chynna Phillips on Celebrity Family Feud, which later became a popular meme. Many in the church adopted this disrespectful statement.

Every time I hear or see these words, I cringe.

HOLY SPIRIT is recognized as the third Person of the Trinity—fully God, co-equal with the Father and the Son. Rather than being an impersonal force or a vague energy, HOLY SPIRIT is defined by specific attributes of personhood, intellect, and emotion.

HE is not a remote control or an inanimate object.

You can't tell GOD the Father or JESUS CHRIST the Son to activate HIM. I believe you can't truly know HIM if you do!

It's so serious that JESUS CHRIST said:

"Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come." Matthew 12:31–32 (ESV)

Watch your mouth and guard your heart!
